The best steak I have ever made was seasoned with simply salt and pepper then bathed in butter while cooking. The recipe is simple and does not take a long time to make. It will impress anyone that you cook for.

Ingredients:

  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter

  • Fresh thyme

  • 3 Cloves Garlic

  • 8 ounce Ribeye Steak

  • Kosher salt

  • Fresh pepper

Steps:

1) Season steak with kosher salt and fresh cracked pepper.

2) Sear the steak on one side then disperse the butter evenly in the pan.

3) Let the butter melt then add in a few sprigs of thyme and the garlic.

4) Sear one side of the steak until you see a golden brown color. This usually takes about 3-4 minutes for a 1-inch thick steak. Baste the butter with a spoon over top the steak.

4) Flip the steak and baste again. Baste every so often until the steak is done.

The best way to tell if the steak is done is by temperature:

• Rare – 125°, very red inside, cool interior

• Medium rare – 135°, red inside and warm

• Medium – 145°, pink inside and warm

• Medium well – 150°, slightly pink inside and warm

• Well – 160°, no pink inside

Remember that a steak will rise 5 degrees after taking it off the heat.

Let the steak rest before cutting for at least 15 minutes. Ideally let it rest for as long as it was on the heat. Letting it rest allows for the juices to move from the center to the edges of the steak to create a more flavorful steak
